Greetings to everyone following the development of ANOTHER VOICE.
We haven't written anything about the game's development for a long time, and we finally want to tell you why we've been silent for so long.
Let me say right away: we're alive, we haven't drunk ourselves into oblivion, we haven't abandoned the game, and we haven't sold the rights for a pack of instant noodles.
From winter 2025 to summer 2026, development was tough. Work took up almost all of our time and energy. We had to quit, look for a new job, then change it again. At some point, juggling all of that with ANOTHER VOICE became nearly impossible.
And work, as we all know: "stay late today, and we won't even say thank you — let alone pay you for it."
Then came the move. The money I had been setting aside from my own pocket for the game's development also had to be spent on all of that.
At the same time, we never crowdfunded from the audience. Even when people offered to help on their own, I sometimes declined. I felt a heavy sense of responsibility for other people's money. I didn't want to take it while I couldn't properly work on the game and be sure I could actually give something back.
But ANOTHER VOICE wasn't standing still. For some time, I worked on the project essentially alone, whenever I could find free time.
Along the way, I also worked on other projects — mostly for income and experience — but a lot of what I learned later came in handy here.
I built AI for monsters from scratch using Unreal Engine's Utility AI. I put together a weather system. Many test mechanics that previously only existed as prototypes are now properly working in code. A lot of time went into materials and optimizing them.
From the outside, all of this isn't very noticeable. You see a new model or location and immediately realize something has changed. But when you spend several days tinkering with one system to make it finally work the way it should — nobody sees that.
So it might seem like almost nothing happened during this time. In reality, under the hood, ANOTHER VOICE has grown a lot more than it used to be.
By summer, the major issues were more or less resolved, and now I finally have a stable amount of time for development.
And one more thing. We've decided to open up the option to support the project.
Not in the sense of "give us money or the game won't come out." ANOTHER VOICE will continue to be made regardless. It's just that now, if someone really wants to help, there's a way to do it.
Support will go toward very specific things during development — for example, necessary assets or freelance work.
Same case with the weapons. From the very beginning, I wanted them not to be ordinary standard models. The weapons should look repurposed, makeshift, built for this world, and genuinely unique. Sometimes it's easier to commission someone to make something specifically for the game.
We'll periodically share what we've managed to achieve thanks to your support and who we have to thank for it.
Thank you to everyone who wrote, asked, followed the game, and didn't forget about ANOTHER VOICE during this time.
We're still here. It's about to get more interesting.
